Waterfall Country, Wales 威爾斯瀑布國度

A friend of mine, an experienced hiker, took me to ‘Waterfall Country’ or the Vale of Neath in South Wales. I was thrilled to see the very lush and green temperate forests hidden in the deep valleys cut deep into the rocks by a mighty series of waterfalls! We visited four waterfalls and the third fall, Sgwd y Pannwr, was especially spectacular. We couldn’t stop for sketching as the journey was long so I decided to paint the scene when I was back home and here’s the results. A gouache and acrylic painting of Sgwd y Pannwr. I have been busy with moving home recently! Finally I have a bit of time to sketch. View from my home. I started it in the afternoon. I went out for shopping and came back to the sketch and by the time I finished, it’s already all dark outside. 過去兩星期非常繁忙，今日終於有一點時間，我就畫窗前的風景。畫了一半，出了去購物，回來完成作品的時候天已經完全黑了。 #usk #urbansketchers

I have arrived in the UK for a month now.  Here comes the first YouTube video about sketching in the UK since I arrived.

 

Ngau Chi Wan Village 牛池灣鄉

I went to sketch at Ngau Chi Wan Village, one of the few remaining villages in the urban areas of Hong Kong and sadly its existence is under increasing pressure for redevelopment. I settled near the red village shrine as you can see it on the right. Huts built with metal sheets adorned with washing lines are right in front of me. I wouldn’t say it’s a beautiful scene but It’s definitely a fun and intriguing scene to sketch. 

Sai Kung Cow No. 2 西貢牛 No.2

Time to paint the cows in my neighbourhood. I just finished painting the second piece of the Sai Kung series. Sai Kung Cow No. 2. It’s the first time I used Daniel Smith watercolour and I like it.

Feral cows are often seen in the district I live in and I enjoy so much drawing and painting them. Recently I did a small watercolour sketch of a cow in my sketchbook and I decided to repaint it on an A3 size watercolour paper and here's the result.

 

西貢天后廟速寫 Sketching Sai Kung Tin Hau Temple

陰天安靜的下午，速寫好時機，我安坐西貢天后廟前速寫。   

A cool overcast day, a quiet afternoon, perfect for some meditation and urban sketching in front of Sai Kung Tin Hau Temple, a temple for the goddess of the sea.

Sketching at Nam Sang Wai 速寫南生圍

Sketching at Nam Sang Wai, a wetland in Yuen Long, with art buddies. I like the cluster of vertical tree trunks packed together and the lights and shadows created by the afternoon sun.
