Haw Par Mansion 虎豹別墅

I visited Haw Par Mansion with a group of sketch friends yesterday. The mansion is an architectural gem in Hong Kong. It was built in 1935 and is one of the very few historical mansions left in Hong Kong. The buidling is a unique mix of eastern and western style architecture. I was completely blown away by the very beautiful and well-kept stained glass and wooden door. The lights that passed through the coloured glass made the picture on the door glowed.

Tai Hang Night Sketch 夜畫大坑

A quick sketch of the Tai Hang night scene! The festive orangy flags contrast well with the cool dark bluish cityscape in the night time! Mid-Autum festival is just around the corner!

Sketching on Sir Cecil's Ride 金督馳馬徑上寫生

 The place was a mountain top along Sir Cecil's Ride.  By around 6, I was surrounded by mounted cameras all pointing to the harbor, which was filled with dazzling lights! 

地點是金督馳馬徑的山頂上。畫至黃昏時，維港夜色璀璨，山頂到處都是龍友!

Tai Hang is a secluded community near the very crowded Causeway Bay, characterized by its old buildings.  These buildings are well preserved, retaining the original flavor of old Hong Kong.

One of the street stall in Tai Hang.  The boss and his family are all staff and are busy preparing dishes in this street open kitchen while customers sit on stools, tasting Hong Kong style milk tea and waiting for their orders.
